Specks are right where you’d expect them this time of year in Southeast Louisiana. The warming water pushes trout into shaded areas, marsh edges, and moving water where baitfish congregate. June through August is a reliable window to target them, and right now the bite is steady.
The marshes around St. Bernard, just 35 minutes from downtown New Orleans, sit at the edge of some of the most productive inshore water on the Gulf Coast. The combination of shallow grass flats, bayous, and open bays gives trout plenty of real estate to work, and gives a good guide plenty of options to put clients on fish.
