Southeast Louisiana Hunting & Fishing Guide

Duck hunting is a way of life for us here at Waterfowl Specialist Guide Service, and in the south there is nothing like living off our beautiful wetlands. There is an unspeakable feeling of joy watching the sun rising and having a flock of ducks committed to the decoys.  Having a guide that has been born and raised in these marshlands with the ability to call any species of ducks is one of the many things we have to offer.

Another thing about us is that we do all hunts out of Gator Trax with pop up blinds, and we use the finest decoys on the market today. We take pride in customer satisfaction, insuring to make for an unforgettable experience which will be sure to keep you coming back for more. We are located in Shell Beach, Louisiana which is conveniently located only 35 mins from downtown New Orleans. Our land is privately leased marshes with a wide variety of species of both puddle and diving ducks. So come experience some of the finest duck hunting that Southeast Louisiana has to offer!

The dog days of summer are coming to an end in Shell Beach, LA and the trout are taking notice. The great fall speckled trout run is starting and nobody is happier about it than me. Trout are no doubt my favorite species to target, but conditions can alter trout fishing more so than they do redfish. I’m fine with catching redfish too, my customers love it, but there’s just something about catching a limit of 100 or more trout that gets me going.

I think the New Orleans trout fishing will only get better from here. We are lucky that we didn’t get any major storms and all the conditions are lining up. The white shrimp are already on the inside, so now the trout just have to wrap up their spawning cycles and start moving to the interior. The trout are starting to school up pretty good and that is helping me target them. I am not fishing the interior quite yet but you can tell the trout are staging up to start moving in.

Redfishing is as good as ever. We are catching bull reds where we trout fish. There’s nothing like seeing my clients get excited about hooking up with a bull redfish. After we land the fish and take a few pics we get back to trout fishing.

I did have some clients recently who requested redfish. Our trip was very successful as they caught their limit and then played catch and release for a while. The recent heat wave has made fishing past 11am pretty tough, but we start early and it’s pretty comfortable with a nice breeze in the morning hours.
